As I sit here and examine my own life with just a little over 30-days after my divorce, life seems more complicated than ever before.

At 35 years old, I’m a divorced single dad, broke, and questioning all that I stand for today. Somehow amid the chaos, I know that all of these things are here to teach me lessons.

I spent over a decade of building the perfect life only to have it come crashing down right in front of me. I never realized this until I started intensive therapy through my divorce process.

Through all of my struggles, I’ve realized that the three best decisions I have ever made in my life were joining the Marine Corps, leaving the Marine Corps, and filing for divorce.

Running from my problems started when I was a kid.

As the firstborn son in a Greek family, I never knew what love or feelings were. As a young kid, I started working at the first chance I got to hide away the pains of my dysfunctional family.

Maybe you can relate to this?

So what did I do? Runaway to the Marines to prove everyone that I was a man and that I could do something with my life.

It was a life change and lesson as a young man that I desperately needed.
