4:47 AM — Show day alarm. Just shy of four hours until stage time. You know, bodybuilding gets pegged as a sport for meatheads, but as someone who straddles the worlds of intellect and iron, I’m here to tell you, that’s a load of crap.

This prep? It’s less about a six-pack abs and more about confronting fear.

Although a six-pack at 40 is cool.

People are scared. Scared of chasing dreams, scared of this misunderstood sport, spending more time chatting it up than actually understanding it. We all fancy the idea of success, plaster it all over social media, chat it up with buddies over beers, and maybe even take a half-hearted stab at it.

But most never even get close.

Why?… Because they don’t believe in themselves enough.

Humans. We’ve been surviving for thousands of years, overcoming all odds. The urge to strive, to want more from life, is etched into our DNA.

Kurt Vonnegut once said, “We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.” That’s what today is about. Sure, I want to win, but more than that, I’m stepping out today knowing I’ll never have to wonder, “What if?”

I’ve chased the hard stuff and embraced the fear.

So here’s to doing, not just dreaming.

Here’s to living out those ambitions we’re all too scared to voice. Because when the lights hit, it’s not just about the muscles — it’s about the man I’m becoming.
