After completing Vision Fast 2021

The sun was clawing its way over the horizon when I hit the peak of the tallest dune in Death Valley. I let out a scream at the top. Out here, it’s just you and your thoughts, stripped bare. I’ve witnessed three sunrises and endured two sunsets, all alone, save for the ghosts of thoughts that haunt me.

I guess this vision is cracking me open, spilling out all the introspection. I took a deep breath today and drew lines in the sand, marking my past, present, and future. I stepped over each one, shedding skin and speaking truths about who I am at each juncture.

And that’s when it hit me… you cannot see what you do not believe.

Viktor Frankl said it and lived it through the unthinkable — no one is shielded from pain, but everyone can cling to hope.

The world is a strange place today. Society is quick to redirect our paths, feeding our dreams with bullshit ideas. If only we could realize that a better version of ourselves is on the horizon, waiting for just a bit of that hope to break through.

Steven Pressfield writes about this dance of necessity and free will, how our callings are not just whispers but screams from within that need to be answered with our work, our blood, and our sweat.
