So, there I was, doing a journaling exercise from a men’s group. It’s about unearthing the ghosts of your worst times. You’d think, having written a book titled “Nowhere to Go” on this subject, I’d have exhausted all avenues of self-reflection. But no, the universe, with its twisted sense of humor, decided I was due for another round.

Rewind to 2018, when my life took a page out of Euripides’ “Medea,” a Greek tragedy in its own right. Discovering my ex with someone else wasn’t just a gut punch but a Mike Tyson knockout in the ring of life. Depression, an intimate tango with the brink of existence — I lived through it all, mirroring Medea’s emotional chaos and sense of profound betrayal.

In “Medea,” the heroine is shattered by the ultimate betrayal as her husband deserts her for another. This act propels her into a whirlpool of revenge and despair. My experience, while less theatrical, echoed these themes — the shock of betrayal, the emotional upheaval, the feeling of life coming undone at the seams.

But here’s where my story veers away from Medea’s tragedy. Rather than succumbing to the darkness, I embarked on a journey of healing and self-discovery. It wasn’t the path I would have chosen, but it was the one that…
