I believe in
who I am
becoming

Pressure creates
words that tell a new
story that needs
to be told

Wake up before
sunrise, my
demons come
to life

Writing gives
me courage
to make them
my friends, I
surrender
it’s the only
way to win

I hear their
dark sounds
between my
inner and outer
worlds, the truth
will be found

Sobriety makes
me feel more alive
I turn to the mirror
Who am I?

I’m done wearing
masks, no more
internal attacks

Addictions are
dangerous but
life’s got me high
I believe in
my life, I find
strength to cry
