How To Trust Life More Fully When Heaviness Comes
A quick visualization/meditation to relieve stress and tension in the body
Standing in the snow barefoot, I start to shiver as the cold ground pierces my skin causing my heart rate to rocket. I took a deep breath to let go of any tension I felt as I walked into the streaming water. In what seemed like an eternity, (which was only seventeen seconds) the pain was too great and I quickly rushed out to warm myself up.
I needed to get away and lean into the discomfort I was feeling from the split holiday season as a single dad. So I went for a hike in the woods to remind myself there is no reason for resistance in life. Winter has come to help me endure the darkness I must face.
The more deeply I connect with the body, the more I work with my mind. Rather than let my mind work against me, I let it work for me.
Our mind is a powerful tool if we choose to be more open to life.
