In hopes to find solace for the heaviness I have been feeling, I went for a hike. As I sat in the woods with no one around, I wrote down everything on my mind. After being lost in my words, I looked up and there was a bluejay perched on top of my water bottle about a foot away.

It was as if he was listening to my stories and great pains. And for a split second, we locked eyes before he flew off into the trees.

I don’t know why that bluejay came in front of me, but parts of me believe he wanted to remind me that no matter how hard life may seem, we are all held together by a love that knows no limits. He sat there to tell me to speak more about not what hurts, but how it feels to heal and move through this experience life has offered.

With the election and turmoil in the world, I have noticed how little we speak of the amazing things in our life. I too have forgotten about my heart as I recycle the hurt of the world by getting sucked in by the fear of media.

The bluejay reminded me to slow down and bring attention to my heart's space. That somewhere deep inside me is this ever-evolving capacity to love freely with no limits. The very existence…
