I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of cutting lately. Not just in the literal sense of shedding pounds for a bodybuilding competition but also in the metaphorical sense of cutting through the clutter of life and writing. The parallels are uncanny and have given me some profound insights.

As I hit a new low of 162 pounds in my bodybuilding journey, it struck me how much cutting weight mirrors the process of personal evolution. Each pound lost feels like stripping away a layer, revealing a bit more of the core beneath.

It's the same thing when I sit down to write in the morning. Writing is a craft, like any art. It’s about honing, refining, and removing excess to let the story’s true essence shine through.

Sometimes, you like your writing. Other times, not so much.

But every time you sit down to write, you gain clarity with every sentence you trim and word you delete. This helps bring the narrative into sharper focus.

Turning 40 has been a time of introspection, weighing which battles are worth the fight. It’s a realization that life isn’t a gift handed on a silver platter. You’ve got to grab the bull by the horns, face the ugly truths head-on, and slice through the facades. Discipline…
