A Letter To Money
Lost In The Algorithms — Daily Odyssey # 28
Money,
We’ve had quite the journey, you and I. If our relationship was on Tinder, it’d be “complicated.” For the longest time, I treated you like a passing fling, never really understanding your worth or giving you the respect you deserved. I was like a kid in a candy store, eyes wide, hands grabbing everything in sight, never once thinking about the sugar crash that was bound to follow.
I was never schooled in the art of loving you. Nobody sat me down and whispered the secrets of your power into my eager ears. It was all spend, spend, spend, with the reckless abandon of a rock star — minus the multimillion-dollar record deal. Every paycheck was a green light to indulge, to live in the moment, because who knew if tomorrow would come, right?
But here’s the thing… I’ve started to see you in a new light.
Maybe it’s the wisdom that supposedly comes with age, or maybe it’s just the tiredness of the endless chase. I’ve begun to understand that you’re more than paper and metal. You’re opportunity. You’re freedom. You’re the means to a life well-lived, not just lived on the edge of ‘just getting by.’
It’s a delicate dance of give-and-take, where you don’t overshadow my existence but significantly enhance it.
