A Barber Shop Tale

Everyone’s Waiting To Go Somewhere

As I sat in the barber shop, waiting for my turn in the chair, I couldn’t help but feel like an outsider in a world that was moving too fast for me to keep up. Everyone was glued to their smartphones, scrolling through social media feeds like mindless drones, oblivious to the world around them.

This morning in the barber shop
waiting for my time in the chair,
I couldn’t help notice everyone searching
through their phones like mindless drones
while I felt alone and thought,
maybe Dr. Seuss was right?
everyones out here
waiting to get
somewhere
in this life
without knowing
the reason why.

I felt disconnected from everyone and their constant need to be connected to the digital world. It was as if they were all searching for something but didn’t even know what they were looking for.

I found myself thinking about Dr. Seuss’s famous quote, “Oh, the places you’ll go!” Everyone in the barbershop seemed to hurry to get somewhere, but they didn’t know why.

As I looked around, I noticed a man sitting in the corner, quietly reading a book. He was the only one in the shop who wasn’t glued to a screen.

I was curious about what he was reading, so I walked over and asked him.
